Kazakhstan plans to launch 19 new air routes to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East in 2025, Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev reported during an April 10 meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, according to Akorda.
In 2024, Kazakh airlines carried 14.7 million passengers (+10%), while airports served 29.7 million travelers (+14%). Three new passenger terminals were completed in Almaty, Kyzylorda, and Shymkent, and construction has started on new airports in Katon-Karagai, Zaisan, and Kendirli.
Kazakhstan also transported 21 million passengers by rail (+3.9%) and began modernizing 125 railway stations as part of five major infrastructure projects.
Transit cargo volumes grew by 6% overall, with Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) traffic increasing 62% to 4.5 million tons.
The country repaired 12,000 km of roads, including major works on the Karagandy–Almaty, Taldykorgan–Oskemen, Aktobe–Kandyagash, and Atyrau–Astrakhan highways.
President Tokayev emphasized improving passenger comfort, enhancing tourist accessibility, accelerating the Center–West highway, expanding the Western Europe–Western China corridor, and boosting TITR development, along with attracting more investment in transport infrastructure.
