Kazakhstan Leads Central Asia in GDP Growth Projections

Kazakhstan is forecasted to lead Central Asia in economic growth, with its GDP expected to expand by 5.5% in 2025, marking a 1.5 percentage point increase from the previous year, according to the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Asian Economic Outlook and Integration Progress Annual Report released on March 25.

The report attributes the region’s overall GDP growth—projected at 5%—primarily to Kazakhstan’s strong economic performance.

Key Findings from the BFA Report

  • Kazakhstan ranked third in Asia for the largest increase in ten-year government bond yields in 2023, following Bangladesh and Türkiye.
  • Asia's weighted average real GDP growth is projected at 4.5% in 2025, slightly above 4.4% in 2024.
  • The region continues to lead in research and development (R&D) investment and patent applications, reinforcing its position as a global innovation hub.
