Kazakhstan Improves Position in Global Investment Risk

Kazakhstan ranked 53rd out of 150 countries in the May 2026 Special Edition of the Global Investment Risk and Resilience Index (GIRRI), improving from 70th place in the original 2025 ranking.

The updated edition incorporates Country Risk Premium (CRP) data as of April 1, 2026, providing a more current assessment of sovereign risk while maintaining the index’s original structural resilience scores. The approach combines long-term indicators of economic, institutional and environmental resilience with market-based assessments of political, financial and external risks.

According to the report, the May 2026 Special Edition does not alter the original methodology or resilience framework. Instead, it updates the risk component to reflect recent geopolitical and economic developments, offering a more timely perspective on the global investment environment.

The revised rankings illustrate how changing market conditions have influenced investor perceptions of sovereign risk. The report emphasizes that movements in the rankings represent relative changes compared with other countries rather than absolute improvements or deterioration in a country's investment risk or resilience.
