Kazakhstan’s exports of sunflower seed meal to the European Union increased by 2.3 times to around 54,400 tons between July 2023 to February 2024, Kazinform reported on May 5.
As of the first eight months of the current season, Kazakhstan has solidified its position as the fifth-largest supplier of sunflower seed meal globally. The leading suppliers remain Ukraine, Argentina, Russia, and Moldova.
According to data from the European Commission, Denmark has emerged as the top importer of Kazakhstan's sunflower seed meal, purchasing 29,350 tons, followed by Sweden with 15,600 tons. Finland procured another 2,500 tons, while Latvia, Estonia, Germany, and Lithuania imported 2,410 tons, 1,950 tons, 1,570 tons, and 1,000 tons, respectively.
The upcoming third international oil and fat conference, FOC 2024: Fats and Oils Conference, scheduled for June 7 in Almaty, will address current challenges and prospects in Kazakhstan's oil and fat industry, including the outlook for oilseed product exports. The conference aims to convene major oilseed processors, leading exporters and importers, industry experts, government officials, industry associations, and transportation companies.(Source:astanatimes)
