Kazakhstan has become the first Central Asian country to establish a permanent mission at the ICAO in Montreal

Kazakhstan has become the first country in Central Asia to open its permanent mission to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on Aug. 26 in Montreal, Canada.

Kazakhstan’s new permanent mission to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal was inaugurated on August 27. The ceremony was attended by Kazakh Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev, the ICAO Council President, the ICAO Secretary General, and aviation authorities from ICAO member states.

ICAO, a UN agency with 193 members, establishes global aviation standards and coordinates efforts to enhance safety and efficiency in civil aviation.

“Kazakhstan’s presence in ICAO will boost collaboration with the organization to promote the civil aviation industry and maintain the acceptable degree of flight safety,” the ministry reports.(Source:astanatimes)

Kazakh Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev attended the 14th Air Navigation Conference (AN-CONF/14) in Montreal from August 25 to 28. The conference led to the adoption of key recommendations for air navigation and flight safety among ICAO's 193 member states.

During his visit, Karabayev met with ICAO Council President Salvatore Sciacchitano and ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar. The ICAO management welcomed Kazakhstan's new representative office and expressed optimism about Kazakhstan’s active role in enhancing flight safety and aviation security.

A Management Services Agreement was signed, under which ICAO will develop project proposals for Kazakhstan, focusing on civil aviation master planning and airport development.
