Cargo shipments along the Transcaspian International Transport Route (TITR) have increased sixfold over the past five years, rising from 800,000 tonnes in 2020 to 4.5 million tonnes in 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev announced on Sept. 4 during Astana Finance Day 2025.
Bozumbayev highlighted TITR as a strategic corridor connecting Asia and Europe, with plans to expand annual freight capacity to 10 million tonnes, supporting trade diversification and regional economic integration.
He noted that the corridor’s growth reflects Kazakhstan’s rising competitiveness in global logistics and ongoing infrastructure modernization under the National Infrastructure Plan through 2029. Complementary efforts under the National Program for Modernization of the Energy and Utilities Sector aim to reduce infrastructure wear to 40% and attract 6.8 trillion tenge (US$12.6 billion) for renovating 86,000 kilometers of utility networks, enhancing reliability and energy security.
