Kazakhstan intends to enhance its air transportation links with China and Uzbekistan by introducing new destinations and increasing flight frequencies, Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chair of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport, stated at the Second Central Asia – China Civil Aviation Cooperation Working Group Conference.
Bilateral negotiations with the aviation authorities of China and Uzbekistan are scheduled for August 14 to finalize these plans.
“We want to open new destinations and create more opportunities for our carriers. Plans include increasing flight frequency and expanding the geography of routes,” Tompiyeva said.
Tompiyeva highlighted that the open skies agreement signed between Kazakhstan and China last year has already nearly doubled the number of flights between the two nations, while also adding new destinations and carriers.
“Kazakhstan has a unique geographical position, and developing cargo air transportation will strengthen our presence on the global aviation map,” Tompiyeva said.
