India will begin offering free short-term visas to Kazakh citizens, Indian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Sailas Tangal announced at an official reception in Astana commemorating India’s 77th Republic Day.
The visa-free entry will be valid for up to 30 days for purposes including tourism, medical treatment, and accompanying individuals, according to the ambassador, as reported by Kazinform on Jan. 26. Visas can be obtained online or via in-person application at the Embassy of India.
Tangal highlighted the growing tourist exchange between the two countries, noting that around 250,000 Indian citizens visited Kazakhstan in 2025. He also emphasized India’s status as the world’s fourth-largest economy, with rapid growth in IT, artificial intelligence, fintech, pharmaceuticals, and digital infrastructure.
The ambassador underlined the strong strategic partnership between India and Kazakhstan, citing active cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), BRICS, the C5 + 1 format, and the United Nations.
