Kazakhstan has emerged as Bavaria’s leading trade partner in Central Asia and the CIS, announced Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, at the Kazakh-Bavarian Business Dialogue on April 4.
The event, part of First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar’s visit to Germany, followed earlier meetings in Hesse. According to the Kazakh Prime Minister’s press service, representatives from Horsch, Linde Gas AG, and Rhenus highlighted Kazakhstan’s investment appeal and their successful operations in the country.
In a bilateral meeting, Aiwanger commended Kazakhstan’s economic progress and diversification, noting strong complementarities with Bavaria’s economy. He emphasized the significance of launching direct Shymkent–Munich flights in late May.
Sklyar also met with Eric Beißwenger, Bavaria’s Minister for European and International Affairs, who expressed readiness to enhance economic and humanitarian cooperation with Kazakhstan.
In 2024, Kazakhstan–Bavaria trade reached €4.7 billion (US$5.1 billion), representing nearly half of Kazakhstan’s total trade with Germany. Kazakh oil accounts for about 50% of Bavaria’s oil imports. Kazakhstan now ranks 21st among Bavaria’s trading partners by volume, ahead of countries like Belgium, Türkiye, Japan, Vietnam, and South Korea.
