Kazakhstan Attracts 7.5 Million Foreign Tourists in First Half of 2025

Kazakhstan welcomed 7.5 million foreign tourists in January–June 2025, with revenues from tourist accommodation rising by 25%, Nurtas Karipbayev, chair of the Tourism Industry Committee at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, announced at a Sept. 29 press briefing at the Central Communications Service.

Of the total, 5 million international visitors stayed in the country for more than 24 hours. Kazakhstan now has 4,442 accommodation facilities offering over 232,000 beds nationwide. Investments in the tourism sector surged by 27%, reaching 592 billion tenge (US$1.2 billion). The Ulytau Region recorded the sharpest increase with 626% growth, followed by Aktobe (241%), Atyrau (214%), and Kyzylorda (97%).

Authorities continue to prioritize infrastructure upgrades in resort areas. Internet coverage has been expanded, and 48 surveillance cameras were installed to improve visitor safety. Ahead of the swimming season, the government also introduced unified rules for the use of water bodies.

Regional administrations have been instructed to align coastal areas with updated standards, boost the number of lifeguards, upgrade rescue stations with modern equipment, and strengthen oversight of small vessels.
