Kazakhstan and WWF have signed a memorandum to reintroduce tigers and boost biodiversity

The Kazakh Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF International) signed a memorandum of cooperation to reintroduce tigers to Kazakhstan under the Tiger Reintroduction Program on July 15.

Kazakhstan and WWF have signed a memorandum to reintroduce tigers and boost biodiversity. This effort builds on their successful partnership, which has already enhanced the Ile-Balkhash Nature Reserve.

In June, the Kazakh Ministry of Ecology signed a Cooperation Agreement with the “Stichting Leeuw” in the Netherlands, securing two Amur tigers for the reserve. These tigers were chosen due to their genetic similarity with Turanian tigers and their ability to adapt to Kazakhstan’s harsh winters.(Source:astanatimes)
