During a meeting of the Energy Council chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov on May 3, QazaqGaz national company and UCC Holding, a subsidiary of Qatar’s Power International Holding, reached an agreement on four significant gas projects in Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Prime Minister’s press service.
During the meeting, several projects were discussed, including the construction of two gas processing plants with capacities of one billion cubic meters and 2.5 billion cubic meters per year. These plants aim to optimize the utilization of raw gas by enhancing processing capacity.
Additionally, the commissioning of a new compressor station and the Aktobe-Kostanai main gas pipeline will facilitate gas supply to the population and local industrial enterprises in the Kostanai Region.
Moreover, the construction of the second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline will bolster Kazakhstan’s energy security by enhancing gas supply to southern, central, and northern regions while maintaining export volumes.
Prime Minister Bektenov emphasized that he would personally oversee the monitoring of agreements reached between the Presidents of both countries in February.
According to the Ministry of Energy and QazaqGaz, gas production in Kazakhstan is projected to increase to 60.4 billion cubic meters in 2024. The Tengiz, Karachaganak, and Kashagan projects contribute over 85% of production. Commercial gas production in 2024 is expected to reach 28 billion cubic meters.(Source:astanatimes)
