Kazakhstan and Moldova Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Relations Amid Embassy Opening in Astana

Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu met with Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi to reaffirm their countries’ commitment to deepening bilateral ties grounded in friendship and mutual benefit, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

The meeting coincided with the official inauguration of the Embassy of Moldova in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, marking a significant milestone in diplomatic relations between the two nations.

During their discussions, the ministers reviewed progress in political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, and cultural and humanitarian engagement. Both sides exchanged views on the calendar of joint events planned for the remainder of the year.

A particular focus was placed on expanding trade and economic collaboration. The Kazakhstan-Moldova Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was acknowledged as a key coordinating body, with plans to convene its next session in the near future.

The ministers welcomed the record 75% increase in bilateral trade turnover in 2024 and agreed on measures to maintain sustained and dynamic growth in this area. They also committed to exploring new avenues for cooperation in agriculture, transport, industrial sectors, as well as digital economy, culture, and humanitarian fields.
