Kazakhstan and Meta Explore Cooperation on AI

Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan Zhaslan Madiyev held a meeting with Meta Vice President Simon Milner on June 10 to discuss potential cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and the protection of minors in the digital environment, according to the ministry’s press service.

The discussion focused on the development of AI technologies, strengthening digital security, enhancing digital literacy, and creating a safer online space for children and adolescents.

In conjunction with Meta’s visit, an industry forum was held at Maqsut Narikbayev University, bringing together representatives from government agencies, academia, non-governmental organizations, and youth groups. The event addressed critical issues, including cyberbullying prevention, limiting exposure to harmful content, and the development of online monitoring tools that respect users’ privacy and personal boundaries.

Meta presented a new feature on Instagram called “Teen Accounts,” intended for users under the age of 16. The tool includes advanced parental controls such as content filters, audience management settings, automatic blocking of offensive language, nighttime notification silencing, and screen time limitations.
