Kazakhstan and Kuwait Expand Bilateral Investment and Trade Cooperation

Kazakhstan is strengthening its investment and trade relations with Kuwait, as highlighted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu during his participation in the third ministerial meeting of the Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on April 15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reported.

In the course of bilateral meetings, Nurtleu invited Kuwaiti investors to participate in major national projects, reaffirming Kazakhstan’s readiness to provide comprehensive support for investment initiatives.

During his meeting with Waleed Al-Bahar, Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of sustainable development, infrastructure financing, and the implementation of socially significant projects. Particular attention was given to potential engagement in energy, water supply, and agriculture sectors.

In discussions with Imad Al-Zaid, Deputy Director General of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the sides exchanged views on enhancing trade and economic cooperation, stimulating mutual business activity, and fostering stronger ties between the business communities of both countries. Key areas of interest included the agro-industrial complex, raw materials processing, and transport and logistics infrastructure.

The Kuwaiti side expressed its interest in organizing mutual visits of business delegations to explore new investment opportunities. Mr. Al-Bahar also confirmed his participation in the upcoming Astana International Forum, scheduled to take place on May 29–30.
