Kazakhstan and Italy reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in industrial and energy sectors during high-level talks in Rome, led by Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev. The discussions brought together senior executives of Italy’s leading energy and engineering companies to explore new investment and technological partnership opportunities, the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
During the meeting with Gianni Bardazzi, Vice President of Maire Group, the sides discussed plans to establish a regional engineering and industrial hub in Kazakhstan and construct a sustainable aviation fuel plant. Maire Group, in consortium with KazMunayGas (KMG), is already implementing a gas separation complex project with an annual output of 1.6 million tons of ethane and 360,000 tons of propane.
In a separate meeting with Fabrizio Fabbri, CEO of Ansaldo Energia, Kosherbayev was briefed on the company’s intention to localize gas turbine component production and open a technical service center in Kazakhstan.
Walter Alberici, President of Allied International Group, presented plans to localize tubular product manufacturing, which would reduce import dependency and enhance Kazakhstan’s industrial capacity. Marco Beretta, President of the Italian-Kazakh Trade Association, announced the upcoming Kazakh-Italian Trade House, highlighting growing Italian business interest in Kazakhstan as a gateway to Central Asia.
Kosherbayev emphasized the dynamic development of bilateral ties, noting Kazakhstan’s readiness to support high-value-added production and industrial innovation projects with Italian partners.
