Kazakhstan and Germany to Strengthen Cooperation in Transport, Logistics

Olzhas Bektenov, Kazakh Prime Minister, met with Tobias Bartz, CEO of the Rhenus Group international logistics service provider based in Germany, to discuss cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, reported the Prime Minister’s press service on May 23.

The parties discussed ongoing projects and investigated opportunities for new Kazakh-German ventures aimed at enhancing Kazakhstan's transit capacity through the advancement of rail transportation and the modernization of storage infrastructure.

Rhenus Group ranks among the top 25 logistics firms globally, boasting a network comprising 70 terminals and 22 container terminals across Europe.

Bartz acknowledged Kazakhstan's increasing prominence in global logistics and expressed interest in expanding collaboration with Kazakh businesses to enhance terminal capacity, thereby bridging Europe's supply chain with Central Asia.

Bektenov affirmed his commitment to transparent collaboration with investors to unlock the transportation, logistics, and transit potential of Kazakhstan. With major transcontinental transport corridors traversing Kazakhstan's territory—the shortest routes from Europe to China and Southeast Asia—the country actively collaborates with Azerbaijan and Georgia to reduce transit times along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). Within a year, the total travel time along the route was halved, demonstrating substantial progress.

“The Kazakh government intends to maximize the transport and logistics potential of the country. We are open to cooperation in implementing joint investment projects. For our part, we guarantee a stable and predictable investment climate with the creation of favorable conditions for business,” said Bektenov.(Source:astanatimes)
