Kazakhstan and Germany Extend Business Partnership Program Through 2028

Kazakhstan and Germany have signed an agreement extending the Partnering in Business with Germany program for 2026–2028. The signing took place on Sept. 30 in Astana during the Extended Conference on cooperation projects, marking a new phase in bilateral efforts to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), strengthen partnerships, and enhance knowledge exchange between the two countries’ business communities.

Deputy Minister of National Economy Yerlan Sagnaev emphasized the program’s importance, noting that it promotes the professional development of Kazakh entrepreneurs while deepening economic ties with Germany. The initiative, launched 15 years ago, has benefited more than 800 Kazakh participants, providing internships in Germany, opportunities to modernize production, adopt international business practices, and secure contracts, licenses, and franchises. The program offers thematic business internships abroad, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience in related industries, establish direct international partnerships, access advanced technologies and tools, and explore joint ventures and trade opportunities.

In 2025, Kazakh entrepreneurs participated in training at GISMA Business Development Centers in Berlin and Potsdam, visited the Hannover Fair, attended COGNOS in Hamburg, joined EABW expos in Tübingen focused on healthcare and medical industries, and explored the world’s largest food exhibition, ANUGA, at CDC in Cologne. All costs, including training, insurance, and accommodation, were covered by Germany.

The previous memorandum extended the program through Dec. 31, 2025. The new agreement ensures its continuation through the end of 2028, opening doors for further knowledge exchange and joint initiatives.
