As part of the state visit of Estonia’s President to Kazakhstan, Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov held meetings with executives of the Sillamäe and Muuga seaports, the ministry’s press service reported on Nov. 18.
Kazakhstan and Estonia are enhancing cooperation in transit logistics to increase the export of Kazakh grain and other agricultural products through Baltic ports, strengthening access to European and North African markets.
State support measures have reinforced Kazakhstan’s presence in global grain markets. In the 2024–2025 marketing year, 672,000 tons of Kazakh grain were transported through Baltic ports, including nearly 116,000 tons shipped via the port of Sillamäe to North Africa. Kazakhstan’s national grain operator continues supplies to Algeria through Estonian terminals. Last season, wheat from Akmola Region producers was exported to Italy and Belgium through the Muuga Grain Terminal.
Saparov noted that Baltic ports represent an important element of Kazakhstan’s long-term export strategy.
With a record harvest of 27 million tons of grain, including 20.3 million tons of wheat, Kazakhstan plans to expand shipments through the Baltic corridor to markets in Europe and North Africa. The parties also discussed a cooperation agreement aimed at developing a joint transport corridor, optimizing logistics, and ensuring stable and competitive export channels for Kazakh products.
