Kazakh, Italian Presidents Emphasize Strong Bilateral Ties

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Italian President Sergio Mattarella reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between their nations during a meeting on March 9. The leaders discussed enhancing trade, investment, and cooperation across priority sectors, Akorda reported.

President Tokayev welcomed Mattarella, highlighting the robust collaboration between Kazakhstan and Italy in various fields. In response, Mattarella expressed gratitude for the warm reception and stressed the importance of their friendship and the vast potential for expanding political, economic, trade, and cultural ties.

“Many Italian companies operate in our market. There is rapid growth. Cultural and humanitarian ties are also developing dynamically. I believe that very strong relations have been built between our countries,” said Tokayev.

Economic and trade relations were a central focus of the talks. Italy ranks among Kazakhstan’s top trading partners, with bilateral trade turnover reaching approximately $20 billion last year. More than 250 Italian companies operate in Kazakhstan, engaging in sectors such as energy, mechanical engineering, and agriculture.

Both leaders expressed optimism about the future of their partnership, emphasizing mutual interest in deepening collaboration and exploring new opportunities for growth.
