Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture and Kazakh Invest national company assist 55 projects with the participation of foreign investors worth $3.8 billion. At a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin on July 13, the progress in the implementation of seven projects involving major multinational corporations was reviewed.
The Prime Minister's press service reports that the projects include Coca-Cola Almaty Bottlers LLP producing soft drinks in Shymkent, the construction of a $132 million integrated livestock complex in Akmola Region by the Spanish consortium BigFarm in Ereymentau, and a deep grain processing plant in Almaty Region by Citic Construction. Additionally, Mareven Food will produce soft drinks in Almaty Region.
Swiss company INOKS Capital plans to establish an orchard and a fruit processing plant in Almaty Region, while PepsiCo is investing $160 million to build a salty snacks plant in the same area. QazBioPharm Holding and French company Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health will produce vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease in Zhambyl Region.
Zhumangarin has directed the Agriculture Ministry, Foreign Ministry, and local authorities to enhance support for these projects and attract additional transnational companies to the agricultural sector.(Source:astanatimes)
