Italy’s Marche Polytechnic University officially opened a branch at Zhetisu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov in Taldykorgan on July 16, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The branch will offer joint double-degree programs in agronomy, agricultural science, food engineering, tourism, economics, and digital technologies. This initiative is designed to address the rising demand for qualified professionals in the Zhetisu Region, where agriculture plays a key role in the local economy.
At the initial stage, 14 educational grants have been allocated from the regional administration’s budget to support students.
Italian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Antonello De Riu emphasized that cooperation with Zhetisu University is part of Italy’s broader international education and research strategy. “The opening of this branch is a real step toward strengthening friendship and cooperation between Kazakhstan and Italy,” he said.
The branch will focus on training specialists with expertise in both agriculture and modern digital technologies. Professors and researchers from Marche Polytechnic University will deliver lectures as part of the academic mobility program. Students will also have access to joint research projects and international internships.
Graduates of the program will receive diplomas from both Zhetisu University and Marche Polytechnic University, equipping them with competitive qualifications for local and international labor markets.
