Italian company is planning to start snail farming operations in the Zhambyl Region of Kazakhstan
Lumacheria Italiana, a global leader in snail production, intends to initiate large-scale snail farming operations in the Zhambyl Region this year, as announced by the regional administration on February 21st.
The foreign company highlights that the Zhambyl Region offers favorable natural and climatic conditions, resulting in snail cultivation being four times cheaper than the global market average.
The project will be executed in collaboration with local company Meragro and will be segmented into several phases: establishing snail cultivation, constructing an incubator, initiating feed production, and erecting a processing plant for snail meat.(Source:astanatimes)
Initial investment is expected to exceed 2 million euros (US$2.17 million), with the company prepared to provide training for local farmers.
Snail shell and mucin are utilized in cosmetics, while snail meat is a sought-after delicacy globally. This initiative marks the first industrial-scale snail farming venture in Central Asia, set to take place in the Zhambyl Region.
