IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi has highlighted Kazakhstan's pivotal role in global nuclear safety

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi outlined Kazakhstan’s key role in global nuclear security at the opening ceremony of the national pavilion as part of the 68th regular session of the IAEA General Conference, which is taking place on Sept. 16-20 in Vienna.

During his visit to Kazakhstan's exhibit, which highlighted advancements in peaceful nuclear applications and the country's commitment to global nuclear safety, Grossi underscored Kazakhstan's critical role in advancing nuclear energy and its contributions to international efforts, according to the Kazakh Energy Ministry's press service.

“Kazakhstan’s vast resources and its nuclear safety initiatives make an invaluable contribution to the development of the industry,” Grossi said.

Grossi also highlighted Kazakhstan's longstanding partnership with the IAEA, emphasizing the country's role in hosting the IAEA Low Enriched Uranium Bank. He noted the significance of the upcoming referendum on nuclear power plant construction, scheduled for October 6, as a pivotal factor for the future of nuclear energy development in Kazakhstan.
