The holy month of Ramadan is set to begin on March 11th

The Spiritual Administration of Muslims in Kazakhstan has announced that the holy month of Ramadan will begin on March 11th, based on the general fatwa issued by the Shariah and Fatwa Department.

The consultation with scholars from Azerbaijan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and other experts in fatwa confirmed the start date of Ramadan as March 11. Laylat al-Qadr, or the night of power, falls on April 5-6, with Oraza Ait (Eid al-Fitr) celebrated on April 10.

During a presidium meeting, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims approved the donation of fitr sadaka at 640 tenge ($1.43), based on the average price of two kilograms of flour in the country.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, involves fasting from dawn till dusk, along with refraining from negative emotions and sinful behavior.
