Halyk Group has officially launched a new Tenge Bank office in Tashkent, coinciding with Kazakhstan’s National Currency Day. The opening ceremony was attended via videoconference by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Tenge Bank, operating in Uzbekistan since 2019, has issued financing totaling $1.5 billion to corporate and retail clients, thereby contributing to the development of bilateral financial cooperation.
The new office, located in Tashkent’s central business district, was constructed with an investment of $35 million. Over 65% of the loan portfolio is allocated to small and medium-sized enterprises, supporting private sector development, employment, and entrepreneurial activity. The bank is also advancing digital financial services through the Tenge Business and Tenge24 platforms, offering online account management, lending products, and cross-border transfers. In June 2024, Tenge Bank became the first financial institution in Uzbekistan to introduce fully digital account opening for SMEs and unsecured online lending for individual entrepreneurs.
Halyk Bank, the parent institution within Halyk Group, is the largest financial organization in Central Asia with assets exceeding $37 billion. With established operations in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Georgia, Halyk Group identifies the Uzbek market as a priority direction for further expansion and integration within the regional financial system.
