Foreign tourists contributed over $800 million to Kazakhstan's economy in 2023

Tourists from China, India, Germany, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) spent over $800 million in Kazakhstan last year, reports Kazinform on July 29.

In 2023, foreign tourists contributed over $800 million to Kazakhstan's economy, with each visitor spending an average of $1,500. The number of Chinese tourists surged to 367,400, up from 17,700 in 2022, largely due to the visa-free regime and frequent flights between Kazakhstan and China. Other notable arrivals included 78,000 tourists from India, 85,000 from Germany, 36,600 from South Korea, and 10,500 from the UAE.

Uzbekistan led the number of visitors with 3.6 million, followed by Russia with 2 million, Kyrgyzstan with 1.6 million, and Tajikistan with 700,000. Most tourists traveled by private car or bus (84.4%), with 10.6% arriving by plane and 5% by train. Overall, approximately 9.2 million tourists visited Kazakhstan in 2023.(Source:astanatimes)
