Over the past three years, 101 foreign digital companies operating in Kazakhstan have paid 75 billion tenge (US$147.3 million) in taxes, according to the Kazakh Finance Ministry. In 2023 alone, tax payments amounted to 35 billion tenge (US$68.7 million).
Major corporations such as Huawei, Aliexpress, Google, Apple, and Netflix are among the entities complying with the "Google tax", introduced in 2022 under the Tax Code. This regulation applies to foreign digital firms selling goods and services to Kazakh consumers.
By the end of 2024, TEMU, Pinduoduo, and Alibaba Group completed their conditional registration in Kazakhstan, further expanding the tax base.
