CICA Ministers to Discuss Finance Summit
An informal meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will be held in New York on Sept. 25, on the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the CICA press service reported.
Foreign ministers of member states are expected to reaffirm their commitment to CICA’s transformation and adopt decisions of long-term institutional significance. The agenda includes the establishment of two new advisory bodies — the CICA Finance Summit and the CICA Women’s Council — aimed at expanding dialogue and cooperation within the forum.
The council will also review the implementation of confidence-building measures, assess progress on ongoing initiatives, and consider draft statements on key thematic issues. In addition, ministers will examine the drafting of the CICA Charter, which is set to serve as the organization’s constitutional foundation, and outline priorities for the coming year.
