A Chinese company will undertake a major mining and metallurgy project in Kazakhstan

Kazakh officials and the chair of China’s large multinational mining corporation considered prospects for implementing the company’s investment project to develop gold, copper and polymetallic deposits in Kazakhstan.

On August 15, Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Kuantyrov and Kazakh Invest Chair Yerzhan Yelekeyev met with Chen Jinghe, Chair of Zijin Mining Group Co. Ltd., reported the Foreign Ministry.

The Chinese company is searching for a suitable deposit and plans to invest $100 million in an enrichment plant for producing non-ferrous and precious metal concentrates. This project will create 1,000 jobs and support the development of small and medium-sized businesses. Zijin Mining also intends to conduct geological exploration to expand Kazakhstan’s mineral resource base.

Kuantyrov highlighted Kazakhstan's state support measures, including investment agreements and sector-specific preferences, to enhance the investment climate.

“We attach great importance to the mining industry. The concept of development of Kazakhstan’s geological industry outlines the special importance of exploration and production of minerals for the nation’s economy. We are ready to provide comprehensive assistance in the implementation of your project in Kazakhstan,” Kuantyrov said.(Source:astanatimes)
