Astana Hub and Tech Garden Unite into Single Innovation Cluster

Astana Hub, Kazakhstan’s international technology park, will merge with Almaty’s Tech Garden following Senate approval of amendments to legislation on innovation activities and state statistics.

The legislation consolidates the two entities into a single cluster fund, increasing self-sufficiency through participant membership fees and reducing reliance on government financing. It introduces mechanisms to evaluate support effectiveness, implement competitive co-financing of venture funds, and discontinue co-financing for private venture investors.

Transparency will be enhanced via a Single Window for the National Innovation System, while telecom operators must provide anonymized data for statistical purposes. The reforms aim to strengthen Kazakhstan’s innovation ecosystem, accelerate venture capital development, and foster economic growth.
